About the Artist: Corrie McDermott

I have lived in the quiet coastal farming community of Westport, Massachusetts my entire life. Westport is located not far from big cities such as Providence, New Bedford, Fall River, Cape Cod and Boston and yet it still has that small hometown atmosphere. It inspires me everyday with scenic beaches and New England farms.

I studied art and photography in both high school and college. I received a Bachlor’s Degree in Illustration with a minor in Painting during my career at the University of Massachusetts: Dartmouth. While at university I also studied photography, figure drawing, sculpting and computer graphics. I have been known to work in many different mediums such as acrylics, oils, watercolors, clay, leather and digitally. I take great pride in trying and teaching myself new mediums as often as possible.

Art and photography have always been great loves of mine. As a young child I picked up a pencil and camera and have not put either down since. With the introduction of digital photography I have taken thousands upon thousands of photos and have continued to challenge myself with bigger and better equipment as often as I am able.

My favorite subjects to draw and paint are animals (specifically horses) and landscapes. It is no surprise that I aim my camera at the same subjects. Landscapes are without a doubt my favorite subject when it comes to photography. Sunsets, mountains, waterfalls and the beach lure me to capture them.  I pride myself on using no filters or photo editing other than cropping.

I hope that you enjoy browsing through my work as much as I enjoy creating it. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.  I look forward to hearing from you!
